Architect lead refurbishment to provide extended contemporary living accommodation.
This included extending into the loft space removing the internal traditional timber structure and replacing with steelwork following the profile of the envelope of the roof. In addition a large rear extension and formal terrace to the sloping rear garden were provided.
This afforded a spectacular first floor terrace to the master bedroom overlooking the rear garden and terrace.
A significant Steel frame was introduced between ground floor and first floor on the line of the existing rear elevation to connect the existing ground floor with the new extended rear space and terrace.
This was provided to support the retained rear brick facade over whilst limiting significant deflections of the brittle brick finishes and providing lateral stability to the rear of the building.
